Aden
Aden is a seaport city in Yemen, located by the eastern approach to the Red Sea, some 110 miles (170 kilometres) east of Bab-el-Mandeb. Its population is approximately a million people. Aden's ancient, natural harbour lies in the crater of a dormant volcano which now forms a peninsula, joined to the mainland by a low isthmus. This harbour, Front Bay, was first used by the ancient Kingdom of Awsan between the 5th and 7th centuries BCE. The modern harbour is on the other side of the peninsula.
South Yemen
The People's Democratic Republic of Yemen, also referred to as South Yemen, Democratic Yemen or Yemen, was a socialist state in the southern and eastern provinces of the present-day Republic of Yemen ("Yemen"). Along with the Somali Democratic Republic, it was one of the few openly-Communist regimes to exist in the Arab World and the Middle East. It united with the Yemen Arab Republic (commonly known as "North Yemen") on May 22, 1990, to form the present-day Yemen.
'Adan Governorate
'Adan is a governorate of Yemen, including the city of Aden. At the 2004 census it had a population of 589,419. The ancient capital, the port city of Crater, was located here. 'Adan was under British rule in the period from 1839 to 1967. In 1967, after years of struggle, 'Adan and other southern governorates gained their independence. The city of Aden subsequently became the capital of South Yemen between 1967 and 1990).

HM Submarine X2 was an Italian Archimede-class submarine, originally named Galileo Galilei. She served in the Regia Marina before and during World War II, before her capture by the Royal Navy in 1940. She was stationed in the Red Sea in June 1940 as a unit of the Italian Red Sea Flotilla.
May 22 Stadium
May 22 Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Aden, Yemen. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as the home stadium of Al-Tilal. The stadium holds 30,000 people. It will host the 20th Gulf Cup of Nations football competition on 22nd November 2010. The first match will be between Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
Crater, Yemen
Crater, also Kraytar, is one of the unofficial names of the oldest districts of the port city of Aden. Its official name is Seera . It is situated in a crater of an ancient volcano which forms the Shamsan Mountains. In 1991, the population was 70,319. In the closing days of British rule in 1967, Crater District became the focus of the Aden Emergency, sometimes called the last imperial war.

Tawahi or is a city district in the city of Aden, located in the 'Adan Governorate in Yemen.
National Museum of Yemen
The National Museum of Yemen in Sana'a, Yemen, was founded in 1971 in Dar al-Shukr (Palace of Gratefulness) which is one of the Yemeni Imam Palaces. It is located near Qubbat al-Mutawakkil Mosque dome in Al-Tahreer Square in the city center. The Museum recently moved to a nearby building called Dar Al-Sada (Palace of Happiness).
EgyptAir Flight 763
EgyptAir Flight 763 was an international non-scheduled passenger flight from Cairo, Egypt to Aden, South Yemen. On 19 March 1972, the flight was a McDonnell Douglas DC9-32 registered in Yugoslavia as YU-AHR and operated by the newly renamed EgyptAir. It crashed into the Shamsan Mountains on approach to Aden, killing all 30 people on board.
Sira Fortress
Sira Fortress is a military site in Aden, Yemen. The original fortress dates to the 11th century, and is still in use today by the Yemeni military. The fort is located on Sira Island, a rocky and tall volcanic outcropping which dominates the old harbor of Aden. Much of the fort's history is unknown, especially since there have been few archaeological studies done of the area.
Aden Expedition
The Aden Expedition was a naval operation carried out by the British Royal Navy in January 1839. Following Britain's treaty concerning the colonization of territory in the present day Yemen, the Sultanate of Lahej resisted which led to a series of skirmishes between the two sides.
Big Ben Aden
Big Ben Aden is a clock tower built by British engineers, along with locals, beside Aden Harbour during the period that Aden Province was a territory within the British Empire. It is superficially similar to the Elizabeth Tower (popularly known as Big Ben), the famous clock tower attached to the Palace of Westminster in London. The clock was shut down for renovation about a quarter of a century ago, and returned to service in February 2012.
