South Vietnam
South Vietnam, officially the Republic of Vietnam, was a state which governed southern Vietnam until 1975. It received international recognition in 1949 as the "State of Vietnam" (1949–55), and later as the "Republic of Vietnam" (1955–75). Its capital was Saigon. The term "South Vietnam" became common usage in 1954, when the Geneva Conference partitioned Vietnam into communist and non-communist parts.
Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam
The Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam, or PRG, was formed on June 8, 1969 as an underground government opposed to the South Vietnamese government of President Nguyễn Văn Thiệu. Delegates of the National Liberation Front, as well as several smaller groups, participated in its creation. The PRG was recognized as the government of South Vietnam by most communist states. It signed 1973 Paris Peace Treaty as a separate party.
Cholon, Ho Chi Minh City
Chợ Lớn is a Chinese-influenced section of Ho Chi Minh City (former Saigon). It is the largest Chinatown in Vietnam. It lies on the west bank of the Saigon River, having Binh Tay Market as its central market. Cholon consists of the western half of District 5 as well as several adjoining neighborhoods in District 6. The Vietnamese name Cholon literally means "big" (lớn) "market" (chợ).
An Quang Pagoda
An Quang Pagoda in Master Van Hanh Street is a meeting place for Vietnamese Buddhist leaders in Ho Chi Minh City and is a site of the Institute for Dharma Propagation. It has been at the focus of development of modern Vietnamese Buddhism as the seat of the School of Buddhist Studies and the headquarters of the Unified Buddhist Church of Vietnam. Since its founding in 1948, its buildings have been expanded in number and size; they now include a library and a publishing house.
Thong Nhat Stadium
Thống Nhất Stadium ("Reunification Stadium") is a multi-purpose stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It is located at 138 Đào Duy Từ Street, Ward 6, District 10. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium for Sài Gòn Xuân Thành and Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh of the Vietnamese Second Division. The stadium has a capacity to seat 25,000 people.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology – a member of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City - still referred to by many as Phu Tho, is the flagship university in technology teaching and research activities in Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. The university plays the active role in the fields of talents cultivation and providing manpower with strong technical skills to the Southern areas of Vietnam. HCMUT is a center of technology - industry and management training.
Phu Tho Horse Racing Ground
Phu Tho Horse Racing Ground is the only place in Ho Chi Minh City and in Vietnam that organizes horse racing. The racing ground was founded by the French colonists during French Indochina. It is situated in District 11, Ho Chi Minh City. It was the location of a major battle between the Viet Cong and the Army of the Republic of Vietnam during the Tet Offensive. Phu Tho racecourse was built by the French in 1932 with an area of 444,540 m2.
1963 South Vietnamese coup
In November 1963, President Ngô Đình Diệm of South Vietnam was deposed by a group of Army of the Republic of Vietnam officers who disagreed with his handling of both the Buddhist crisis and the Vietcong threat. The Kennedy administration had been aware of the coup planning, but Cable 243 from the United States Department of State to U.S. Ambassador to South Vietnam Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr. , stated that it was U.S. policy not to try to stop it.

Thien Hau Temple, Ho Chi Minh City
Chùa Bà Thiên Hậu (The Pagoda of the Lady Thien Hau) is a Chinese style temple located on Nguyen Trai Street in the Cho Lon (Chinatown) district of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It is dedicated to Thiên Hậu, the Lady of the Sea ("Tian Hou" as transcribed from the Chinese), who is also known as "Mazu".
