Thompson Observatory
The Thompson Observatory is an astronomical observatory at Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin. The observatory was built in 1968 to replace the Smith Observatory, which had been built in the 1880s. The new observatory was named in honor of Alfred S. Thompson of the Beloit College Class of 1892. The instruments are: 22-inch reflecting telescope. The telescope was removed when Chamberlin Hall was demolished to make way for the new Center for the Sciences in 2008-2009.

Completed in 1882, the observatory was a memorial to John F. Smith, and served the campus from 1882 until the 1950s. In 1967 it was used as a coffee house and before being torn down in 1968. It was replaced by the Thompson Observatory.
Beloit Water Tower
The Beloit Water Tower is a historic 1889 octagonal limestone water tower in Beloit, Wisconsin. The tower, completed in 1889 to serve the city's water needs, particularly fire protection, was built by a consortium of local businessmen. Eventually serving 25,000 customers, it was abandoned after the completion of an adjacent steel water tower with twice the capacity around 1935, and allowed to stand due to excessive demolition costs.
