Monroe is a city in Snohomish County, Washington, United States. The population was 17,304 at the 2010 census. The population was 17,390 at 2012 Estimate from Office of Financial Management.
Twin Rivers Corrections Center
The Twin Rivers Corrections Center opened in 1984 and is part of the Monroe Correctional Complex facility in Monroe, Washington. Currently, it is the largest prison in all of Washington State. It is now referred to as Twin Rivers Unit (TRU). It currently employs 1200 people. Monroe Correctional Complex is a Close, Medium, and Minimum security facility, which houses approximately 2800 inmates in five wings, typically two to a cell. Some inmates with special needs are housed in individual cells.
Evergreen Speedway
Evergreen Speedway is an automobile racetrack located within the confines of the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, Washington. The stadium can accommodate up to 7500 spectators in the covered grandstand and an additional 7500 in the uncovered modular grandstands.
Monroe Correctional Complex
The Washington State Reformatory Unit (WSRU) opened in 1910. It is now part of what is referred to as the five-unit Monroe Correctional Complex (MCC). WSRU houses inmates with a "closed" custody designation or lower. In other words, though it is a closed-custody facility, some inmates qualify as medium-custody, or even long-term minimum custody. Inmates are housed in two large cellblocks, the A-B wing and C-D wing. Approximately 875 inmates are housed there at any given time.

The Monroe Sports Arena is a 2,000 seat multi-purpose arena located in Monroe, Washington, United States on the campus of Monroe High School. It was home to the Snohomish County Explosion of the International Basketball League. The Monroe High School gymnasium was renamed the Monroe Sports Arena in 2008 after $10,000 worth of renovations made for the IBL season.

Evergreen State Fair
Snohomish County's Evergreen State Fairgrounds hosts the annual 12-day Evergreen State Fair every August through Labor Day. The Fair is the largest county fair in the Northwest and the largest single attraction held annually in Snohomish County. Situated in Monroe, 35 miles northeast of Seattle and 12 miles east of Everett, the fairgrounds comprise 202 acres with buildings and land valued at more than $50 million.
