Swinomish people
The Swinomish (pronounced with the accent on the first syllable) are an historically Lushootseed-speaking Native American tribe in western Washington state in the United States. The tribe lives in the southeastern part of Fidalgo Island near the San Juan Islands in Skagit County, Washington. Skagit County is located about 70 miles north of Seattle. The federally recognized Swinomish Indians of the Swinomish Reservation or Swinomish Indian Tribal Community is headquartered in La Conner.
Kiket Island
Kiket Island is a small islet in Washington, co-owned by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission and the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community. Located less than four miles northwest of the town of LaConner in Skagit County, Washington, Kiket is connected to Fidalgo Island by a tombolo, over which runs an access road. Thus, Kiket Island is not what most people would consider an island. Hope Island lies to the south of Kiket; Skagit Island only a few hundred feet to the southwest.

It consists of 200 acres of beaches and forest with occasional meadows and rock outcroppings on an island in Skagit Bay. There is a trail across the island. There is a picnic area on the North end of the island, with buoys for mooring larger boats. A number of herons nest on the Southwestern end of the island.

Accessible only by boat, it is located 1 mile east of Hoypus Point and 1.5 miles east of Cornet Bay in Deception Pass State Park.
