Artondale is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pierce County, Washington, United States. The population was 8,630 at the 2000 census. Based on per capita income, one of the more reliable measures of affluence, Artondale ranks 82nd of 522 areas in the state of Washington to be ranked.
Fox Island, Washington
Fox Island is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pierce County, Washington, United States, on an island of the same name in Puget Sound. It is located approximately five miles from Gig Harbor. The island was named Fox by Charles Wilkes during the United States Exploring Expedition, to honor J.L. Fox, an assistant surgeon on the expedition. The population was 3,633 at the 2010 census.
Carr Inlet
Carr Inlet, in southern Puget Sound in the U.S. state of Washington, is an arm of water between Key Peninsula and Gig Harbor Peninsula. Its southern end is connected to the southern basin of Puget Sound. Northward, it separates McNeil Island and Fox Island as well as the peninsulas of Key and Gig Harbor. The northern end of Carr Inlet is named Henderson Bay. Carr Inlet was named by Charles Wilkes during the Wilkes Expedition of 1838-1842, to honor Overton Carr, one of the expedition's officers.
Tanglewood Island
Tanglewood Island is a small island in Hale Passage off the northern shore of Fox Island in Pierce County, Washington. The island was a summer home of Conrad L. Hoska (1856–1910), a prominent figure in the nearby city of Tacoma. From 1945 it hosted a boys' camp, and in the following year the lighthouse structure (pictured) was completed. The Geographic Names Information System lists several alternative names: Ellens Isle, Grant Island, Grave Island, and Hoska Island.
Kopachuck Middle School
Kopachuck Middle School is a middle school found in the Peninsula School District founded in 1981, is a middle school that leads into Gig Harbor High School, and is rival schools with Goodman Middle School. It takes kids in from Artondale Elementary and Voyager Elementary. Their mascot is the Coyote.
Kopachuck State Park
Kopachuck State Park, situated on Henderson Bay in Puget Sound, is a 109-acre marine and day use park with over a mile of saltwater shoreline. The park also includes Cutts Island also known locally as "Deadman's Island". The island is about half mile from shore and reachable only by boat. The park provides sweeping views of sunsets, the Olympic Mountains and Puget Sound.
Cutts Island State Park
Cutts Island State Park in Pierce County, Washington is a 2 acres marine park in the Washington State Park System. It comprises the entirety of Cutts Island (also known as Dead Man's Island) in Carr Inlet, 0.5 miles offshore from Kopachuck State Park, and is accessible only by water. Available activities include boating and diving.
Wollochet Bay
Wollochet Bay is the name of a narrow long and shallow bay in southern Puget Sound in the state of Washington. The bay is located on the southern part of the Kitsap Peninsula which opens onto the southern Hale Passage which separates Fox Island from the Kitsap Peninsula, near Gig Harbor.
