Montlake Cut
The Montlake Cut is the easternmost section of the Lake Washington Ship Canal, which passes through the city of Seattle, linking Lake Washington to Puget Sound. It is approximately 2,500 feet long and 350 feet wide. The center channel is 100 feet wide and 30 feet deep. The Cut provides a connection between Union Bay, part of Lake Washington, to the east and Portage Bay, an arm of Lake Union, to the west. It is spanned by the Montlake Bridge, a bascule drawbridge carrying Montlake Boulevard.
Portage Bay
Portage Bay is an arm of Seattle, Washington's Lake Union and is part of the Lake Washington Ship Canal. Its western limit can be said to be the Ship Canal Bridge, which carries Interstate 5 over the water; North Passage Point Park and South Passage Point Park sit on opposite shores between the freeway's pillars. Its eastern limit is the entrance to the Montlake Cut.
Montlake, Seattle
Montlake is an affluent residential neighborhood in central Seattle. It is bounded to the north by Portage Bay and the Montlake Cut section of the Lake Washington Ship Canal, to the east by the Washington Park Arboretum, and to the south and west by Interlaken Park. Capitol Hill is on its south and west sides, and the University of Washington lies across the Montlake Cut to the north.
Husky Stadium
Husky Stadium is an outdoor football stadium on the campus of the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, United States. It is the home of the Washington Huskies of the Pacific-12 Conference, hosting its football games. The university holds its annual commencement at the stadium in June. It is located at the southeastern corner of campus, between Montlake Boulevard N.E. and Union Bay, just north of the Montlake Cut.
Lake View Cemetery (Seattle)
Lake View Cemetery is a cemetery located on Seattle, Washington, Capitol Hill just north of Volunteer Park. It is named for its view of Lake Washington to the east. It was founded in 1873 as the Seattle Masonic Cemetery.

Washington Park Arboretum
Washington Park is a public park in Seattle, Washington, USA, most of which is taken up by the Washington Park Arboretum, a joint project of the University of Washington, the Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation, and the nonprofit Arboretum Foundation. Washington Park also includes a playfield and the Seattle Japanese Garden in its southwest corner. The entire length of Arboretum Creek is within the park.
East Montlake Park
East Montlake Park is a park in the Montlake neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, USA. The park is bounded on the north by the Montlake Cut, on the east by Union Bay, on the south by McCurdy Park, and on the west by East Park Drive E. The 1971 Montlake Cut Waterside Trail runs through the park past the 40-foot totem pole shown at right on its way to West Montlake Park.
West Montlake Park
West Montlake Park is a park in the Montlake neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. The park is bounded on the north by the Montlake Cut, on the west by Portage Bay, on the south by the Seattle Yacht Club marina, and on the east by West Park Drive E. It is connected to East Montlake Park by the 1971 Montlake Cut Waterside Trail, which runs along the cut and passes under the Montlake Bridge. The park was acquired by the city in 1909.
Montlake Playfield
Montlake Playfield is a 27 acre (100,000 m²) park and playfield on Portage Bay in the Montlake neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, USA. Originally a 20-foot-deep peat bog, the playfield site was first developed as part of a dahlia farm. The farm extended considerably further south than the present playfield: its southernmost part was south of Lynn Street, the land used to build St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.
Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion
Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion, commonly known as Hec Edmundson Pavilion, or simply Hec Ed is an indoor arena on the campus of the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, United States; the home of the Washington Huskies of the Pacific-12 Conference. Originally opened in 1927, the brick venue is home to the UW men's and women's basketball programs, as well as the women's volleyball and gymnastics teams. The current seating capacity of Hec Ed is 10,000 for basketball.
Joint Institute for the Study of the Atmosphere and Ocean
The Joint Institute for the Study of the Atmosphere and Ocean (JISAO) has existed since 1977 for the purpose of fostering research collaboration between National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)/Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR) and the University of Washington. Dr. Thomas Ackerman, a Battelle Fellow, is the current director.
Interlaken Park (Seattle)
Interlaken Park is a 51.7-acre park in Seattle, Washington. A heavily wooded hillside and ravine, it forms the division between Capitol Hill to the south and Montlake to the north. Interlaken Drive E. runs through the park north to south, and E. Interlaken Boulevard, part of which is now closed to traffic, does so northwest to southeast. Louisa Boren Park, once part of Interlaken Park, lies directly south.

Louisa Boren Park is a 7.2-acre park in Seattle, Washington. A heavily wooded hillside and lookout with views to the northeast of the city, Lake Washington, and the Eastside, it is located at the north end of Capitol Hill just south of Interlaken Park, out of which it was created in 1913. Volunteer Park Conservatory
The Volunteer Park Conservatory is a botanical garden and conservatory located in Seattle, Washington, at the north end of Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill. Made up of 3,426 glass panes fit into a wood and iron framework, this Victorian-style greenhouse structure is modeled on London's Crystal Palace.
