Ballard, Seattle
Ballard is a neighborhood located in the northwestern part of Seattle, Washington. To the north it is bounded by Crown Hill, (N.W. 85th Street); to the east by Greenwood, Phinney Ridge and Fremont (along 8th Avenue N.W. ); to the south by the Lake Washington Ship Canal; and to the west by Puget Sound’s Shilshole Bay. Shilshole Bay
Shilshole Bay is the part of Puget Sound east of a line drawn northeasterly from Seattle's West Point in the southwest to its Golden Gardens Park in the northeast. On its shores lie Discovery Park, the Lawtonwood section of the Magnolia neighborhood, the neighborhood of Ballard, and Golden Gardens Park. It is home to the Shilshole Bay Marina on Ballard's Seaview Avenue N.W. and communicates with the Lake Washington Ship Canal via Salmon Bay, the canal's westernmost section.
Salmon Bay Bridge
The Salmon Bay Bridge, also known as Bridge No. 4, is a single-leaf bascule bridge across Seattle, Washington's Salmon Bay from Magnolia/Interbay to Ballard, just west of Commodore Park. It carries the main line of the BNSF Railway on its way north to Everett and south to King Street Station and Seattle's Industrial District. Built in 1914 by the Great Northern Railway, it has an opening span of 61 meters (200 feet) and has two tracks.
Golden Gardens Park
Golden Gardens Park is a public park in Ballard, a neighborhood in Seattle, Washington. The park includes wetlands, beaches, hiking trails, and picnic and playground areas. The park is bisected by the BNSF Railway.
Nordic Heritage Museum
The Nordic Heritage Museum is a museum dedicated to the heritage of Seattle's Nordic immigrants, Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian and Swedish Americans. It was founded in 1980 and is in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. The museum serves as a community gathering place and shares Nordic culture by exhibiting art and objects, preserving collections,and providing educational and cultural experiences.
Corinthian Yacht Club of Seattle
Corinthian Yacht Club of Seattle is a yacht club located in Seattle, Washington. The clubhouse is located in the Ballard neighborhood on Shilshole Bay. The club also hosts racing and events on Lake Washington in the Leschi neighborhood. Sunset Hill, Seattle
Sunset Hill is an area located in the northwest corner of the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. It is home to the Sunset Hill Community Association. Founded in 1922 it was one of the first Seattle neighborhood associations. It is also home to the Sunset Hill Viewpoint Park, located at 7531 34th Ave NW. This park provides a scenic overlook onto the Shilshole and Elliott bays and provides a popular vantage point for photographs of the Olympic Range.
Norvell House
Designated a Seattle, Washington Landmark, the Norvell House was built in 1908 and is a late example of the Swiss chalet style of Architecture. Located in the community of Ballard, in the vicinity of Sunset Hill, it sits on its original-sized lot with impressive heritage trees and retains its flanking carriage house.
