Federal Way Public Schools is a school district covering all of Federal Way, Washington and portions of Kent, Des Moines, and unincorporated county land between the city and Auburn, totaling 35 square miles (91 km²). There are 37 schools (23 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, 1 Public Academy, 1 Internet Academy, and 5 high schools) in the district. With 22,395 enrolled students as of 2006, it is the 7th largest school district in Washington.

Rhododendron Species Foundation and Botanical Garden

The Rhododendron Species Foundation and Botanical Garden (22 acres) is a nonprofit botanical garden specializing in rhododendrons, located at 2525 South 336th Street, Federal Way, Washington. It is open to the public daily except Mondays. The organization was founded in 1964 by members of the American Rhododendron Society to develop a comprehensive collection of the rhododendron species.

Redondo, Des Moines, Washington

Redondo is a community within the incorporated boundaries of the city of Des Moines near the border of Federal Way in King County, Washington. Redondo was initially founded as a resort, but gradually grew to be a middle-class residential community. The community, which is largely centered around Redondo Beach – a small beach with a board-walk, a Salty's restaurant, and a pay parking lot, was reportedly named by a settler from Redondo Beach, California. It is located near Saltwater State Park.

Federal Way (Link station)

The Federal Way Station is a proposed Link Light Rail station on the southern extension of Sound Transit's Central Link, the South Link, to be constructed as part of a future Sound Transit system expansion plan. The station will be located at the new Federal Way Transit Center in Downtown Federal Way, Washington. Internet Academy

The Internet Academy (IA or iAcademy) is a public virtual school a part of Federal Way Public Schools, approved by the Northwest Accreditation Commission and open to all students in grades K-12. Internet Academy was founded in 1996 and was the first online school in Washington state. The institution provides courses for other public schools, home-schooled students, as well as out of state students.
