Longview, Washington

Longview is a city in Cowlitz County, Washington, United States. It is the principal city of the "Longview, Washington Metropolitan Statistical Area", which encompasses all of Cowlitz County. Longview's population was 36,648 at the time of the 2010 census and is the largest city in Cowlitz County. The city is located in southwestern Washington, at the junction of the Cowlitz and Columbia rivers. Longview shares a border with Kelso to the east, which is the county seat.

Kelso Multimodal Transportation Center

The Kelso Multimodal Transportation Center is the station stop for Amtrak rail service for Kelso, Washington and neighboring Longview. Greyhound Lines provides national and regional bus service, while Community Urban Bus Service (CUBS) provides local transit. Shuttle vans, taxis and rental cars can also be hired at the station.

Mark Morris High School

Mark Morris High School is a public high school in Cowlitz County in Longview, Washington, USA, for grades nine through twelve. In 2006, it had an enrollment of 1141 students. The school was built in 1957 and is named for Samuel Mark Morris, the third president of the Long-Bell Lumber Company. The school has a partially open campus. Students are allowed to leave campus during lunch if they wish.

R. A. Long High School

R. A. Long High School is the oldest high school serving the city of Longview, Washington. It was erected in 1927, three years after the city of Longview was incorporated. The total student enrollment at the end of the 2005-06 school year was 1017. The school is named for the city's founder, Robert A. Long, a wealthy timber baron from Missouri. Their mascot, the Lumberjack, was so named due to the area's reliance on the timber industry.

Lower Columbia College

Monticello Hotel (Longview)

The Monticello Hotel is a hotel and apartment building in Longview, Washington. It was given to the city by founder R. A. Long in the early 1920s. Early photographs seen in Longview indicate its original name was "Hotel Monticello," and the large sign on the roof was rearranged when the name was changed. Several other hotels named Hotel Monticello exist in the Washington, D.C. area.

Cowlitz County Deserves Better

Cowlitz County Deserves Better is an ad hoc group of more than 100 fishermen, seniors, workers, tribal members and other citizens who live on the lower Columbia River in Washington and Oregon, USA. The group is headquartered in Longview, Washington, and has published goals of promoting “good jobs, a clean river, and air and water free of dangerous toxins” in the region.
