Spring Hill (WMATA station)
Spring Hill (preliminary names Tysons West, Tysons – Spring Hill Road) is a planned Washington Metro station in Fairfax County, Virginia, on the Silver Line. It is scheduled to begin operation in 2013. The station will be located in the central median of Leesburg Pike (SR 7) just west of Spring Hill Road. There has been some controversy about whether to build the rail through Tysons Corner below ground or on elevated tracks.
Bear Island (Maryland)
Bear Island is an island located in Potomac, Montgomery County, Maryland between the Potomac River and the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal near the Great Falls. It is managed by the National Park Service as part of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park and is co-owned by The Nature Conservancy. One of its most popular attractions is the Billy Goat Trail. Pets are not allowed on Bear Island, nor is smoking.
Difficult Run
Difficult Run is a 15.9-mile-long tributary stream of the Potomac River in northern Virginia in the United States. The stream is named not for the nature of the stream's rapids themselves; rather, long-boatmen in the time of the Patowmack Company found the two sharp bends of the Potomac near Difficult Run's mouth treacherous. Difficult Run flows through Fairfax County to Great Falls Park, on the Virginia side of the Potomac River.
Ash Grove (plantation)
Ash Grove is an 18th century plantation house in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. In 1790, Bryan Fairfax built Ash Grove on Leesburg Pike, 2 miles west of Tysons Corner, Virginia for his son, Thomas Fairfax. Ash Grove is said to have been named for an older Fairfax family house in England. In his later years, Thomas Fairfax bought Vaucluse Plantation, near Alexandria, Virginia, and bestowed Ash Grove upon his second son, Henry.
