Old Dominion University
Old Dominion University (ODU) is a public research university in Norfolk, Virginia, United States. It was established in 1930 as the Norfolk Division of the College of William & Mary. ODU awarded its first bachelor's degrees in 1956, became Old Dominion College in 1962, and attained university status in 1969. ODU offers a full range of degree programs and is one of the nation's largest providers of online distance learning courses.
Ted Constant Convocation Center
The Ted Constant Convocation Center is a 9,520-seat (219,330 square feet) multi-purpose arena in Norfolk, Virginia, located on the campus of Old Dominion University. It is operated by Global Spectrum. The Lafayette River, earlier known as Tanner's Creek, is a 6.2-mile-long tidal estuary which empties into the Elizabeth River just south of Sewell's Point near its mouth at Hampton Roads, which in turn empties into the southern end of Chesapeake Bay in southeast Virginia in the United States. It is entirely located in the city of Norfolk.
Colonial Place
Colonial Place is a residential neighborhood in Norfolk, Virginia. It is a peninsula bordered by 38th Street on the south, and surrounded on three sides by the Lafayette River. It is a relatively racially mixed area that includes mostly single family homes and a few apartment buildings. Many large homes front the water and Mayflower Road arches around the shore of the river. Colonial Place Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Joint Forces Staff College
The Joint Forces Staff College (JFSC) located in Norfolk, Virginia, was established as the Armed Forces Staff College in 1946 and incorporated into the National Defense University in August 1981. It educates and acculturates joint and multinational warfighters to plan and lead at the operational level. Military operations increasingly require the Armed Services to work jointly and JFSC provides students the tools to operate in a joint environment.
Old Dominion University Fieldhouse
Old Dominion University Fieldhouse was a 5,200 seat multi-purpose arena in Norfolk, Virginia. It opened in 1970. It was home to the Old Dominion University Monarchs and Lady Monarchs basketball teams until the 2002-03 basketball season when the Ted Constant Convocation Center opened. The venue also played host to the American Basketball Association's Virginia Squires for some games in the 1970-71 season. It has also hosted concerts. Frank Zappa played there on 4/22/1980.
Bud Metheny Baseball Complex
The Bud Metheny Baseball Complex is a stadium on the campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, USA. It is primarily used for baseball, and is the home field of the Old Dominion University Monarchs NCAA collegiate baseball team. The Monarchs are members of the Colonial Athletic Association. The ballpark has seating for 2,500 spectators in three sections of raised aluminum bleachers.
