Hampton University
Hampton University is a historically black and Native American university located in Hampton, Virginia, United States. It was founded by black and white leaders of the American Missionary Association after the American Civil War to provide education to freedmen.
Phoebus, Virginia
Phoebus was an incorporated town located in Elizabeth City County on the Virginia Peninsula in eastern Virginia. Upon incorporation in 1900, it was named in honor of local businessman Harrison Phoebus (1840–1886), who is credited with convincing the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway (C&O) to extend its tracks to the town from Newport News. The town and county are both extinct, as they were consolidated by mutual consent with the independent city of Hampton in 1952, and adopted the latter's name.
Chesapeake City, Virginia
Chesapeake City, Virginia was an unincorporated town in Elizabeth City County, Virginia on the north side of Hampton Roads on the Virginia Peninsula from 1871 to 1900. In 1901, it became an incorporated town and was renamed Phoebus for its most prominent citizen, Harrison Phoebus.
Emancipation Oak
Emancipation Oak is a historic tree located on the campus of Hampton University in what is now the City of Hampton, Virginia. The large sprawling oak is 98 feet (30 m) in diameter, with branches which extend upward as well as laterally. It is designated one of the 10 Great Trees of the World by the National Geographic Society and is part of the National Historic Landmark district of Hampton University. The tree is a Southern Live Oak.

Hampton River
The Hampton River is a 3.2-mile-long tidal estuary which empties into Hampton Roads near its mouth. Hampton Roads in turn empties into the southern end of Chesapeake Bay in southeast Virginia in the United States. The Hampton River is located entirely in the city of Hampton. Much like several other minor rivers of the area, the Hampton River has also been referred to as Hampton Creek.
Phoebus High School
Phoebus High School is a public high school located in Hampton, Virginia. Named after the nearby neighborhood and former town of Phoebus, it is the newest of the four high schools in the city. Considered unique for the IDE Academy which includes Video Media Design, Engineering, and Video Game Programming. Originally designed as an "Open-Concept" school, permanent interior walls were minimized in favor of partitions that could be adjusted depending on building needs.
