It is part of the Buchanan County Public Schools system and was founded in 2001 with the consolidation of the former Garden and Whitewood High Schools. Pilgrim's Knob is an unincorporated community in Buchanan County, Virginia, United States. As of the 2000 census, the Pilgrim's Knob area had a population of 479. It is located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:37|14|19|N|81|54|44|W|region:US_type:city | |name= }} along the Dismal River, part of the watershed of the Big Sandy River, at the junction of Virginia State Routes 638 and 680. The area was first settled in 1833 by Milton Ward.
