The Putney School
The Putney School is an independent high school in Putney, Vermont. It was founded in 1935 by Carmelita Hinton. It is a co-educational, college-preparatory boarding school, with a day-student component, located 12 miles outside of Brattleboro, Vermont. Emily Jones is the director. The school enrolls approximately 225 students on a 500 acres -hilltop campus with classrooms, dormitories, and a dairy farm on which all of its students work before graduating.
Landmark College
Landmark College is an accredited liberal arts college in Putney, Vermont. Founded in 1985 with a first-of-its-kind program for dyslexics by Charles Drake, the school is one of only two in the United States (the other being Beacon College, in Leesburg Florida) designed exclusively for students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia and developmental disorders such as attention-deficit disorder and autism spectrum disorders. The college's current president is Dr. Peter Eden, Ph.D.
The Greenwood School
The Greenwood School, established in 1978 by educators in the field of dyslexia, is situated on a 100 ac (40 ha) campus outside Putney, Vermont, 12 mi (19 km) north of Brattleboro in the south eastern part of the state. The Greenwood School is a boarding and day school for students in grades 6 through 12 with specific learning challenges. There are 41 boarders, 5 day students, and 20 teachers.
