South Barre is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Barre in Washington County, Vermont, United States. The population was 1,242 at the 2000 census.

Barre /ˈbæri/ is a city in Washington County, Vermont, in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 9,052. Barre City is almost completely surrounded by Barre (town), Vermont, which is incorporated separately from the City of Barre. Barre is often twinned with nearby Montpelier in local media and businesses. It is the main city in the Barre Micropolitan area which, at 59,564 residents, is the 3rd largest in Vermont.

Barre Auditorium is a 1,856-seat multi-purpose arena in Barre, Vermont. It was built in 1939. It was one of the homes of the Vermont Frost Heaves of the Premier Basketball League, along with the Burlington Memorial Auditorium. Some of the Vermont High School State Basketball Championships are held in this auditorium; however, in recent years Patrick Gym has been host to Vermont high school playoff basketball.
