Lake Bomoseen
Lake Bomoseen is a freshwater lake in the western part of the state of Vermont in the towns of Castleton and Hubbardton in Rutland County. It is the largest lake that lies entirely within the state's boundaries, with a surface area of approximately 9.6 square kilometres . The lake was formed by glaciation and has an average and maximum depth of 8.2 metres and 19.8 metres, respectively. It drains a 100.25 square kilometres watershed, has five major inlets, and empties to the Castleton River.

WIUV is a radio station in Castleton, Vermont. It is the student-run station of Castleton State College. The station signed on the air in 1976 and has an ERP of 230 watts from a transmitter located on campus.
Neshobe Island
Neshobe Island is an island in Lake Bomoseen in the town of Castleton, U.S. state of Vermont. It is particularly known for its association during the 1920s and 1930s with the Algonquin Round Table, a group of literary figures. The island was given its present name at an event on July 4, 1881, at which several names were proposed; among the other names were Taghkannuc and Kellowanda.
Smith-Putnam wind turbine
In 1941 the Smith-Putnam wind turbine, the world's first megawatt-size wind turbine, was connected to the local electrical distribution system on Grandpa's Knob in Castleton, Vermont, USA. It was designed by Palmer Cosslett Putnam and manufactured by the S. Morgan Smith Company. This 1.25 MW Smith-Putnam turbine operated for 1100 hours before a blade failed at a known weak point, which had not been reinforced due to war-time material shortages.
Castleton (Amtrak station)
Castleton is a train station in Castleton, Vermont served by Amtrak, the national railroad passenger system. Originally built by the Rutland and Whitehall Railroad in 1850, the depot is now privately owned, and is located across from the northern terminus of the Delaware and Hudson Rail Trail. Castleton replaced Fair Haven on January 2, 2010.
