Salt Lake County is a county located in the U.S. state of Utah. It had a population of 1,029,655 at the 2010 census. Its county seat and largest city is Salt Lake City, the state capital. It occupies the Salt Lake Valley, as well as parts of the surrounding mountains, the Oquirrh Mountains to the west and the Wasatch Range to the east. In addition, the Great Salt Lake is partially within the northwestern section of the county.

Cottonwood West, Utah

Cottonwood West was a census-designated place (CDP) in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States. The CDP was situated between the cities of Holladay and Murray, which by the mid-2000s had annexed virtually all of the area between them. The population was 18,727 at the 2000 census, a slight increase over the 1990 census figure of 17,476. The area was known as South Cottonwood during the 1980 census, at which time the population was 11,117.

Cottonwood High School (Murray, Utah)

Cottonwood High School is a public high school located in Murray, Utah. Founded in 1970, by Tyson Burton after the Granite School District condemned the property and obtained the land from farmers, who bought the land from Native Americans. The current enrollment is just above 1,500 with many ethnic groups represented. It hosts traditional schooling, grades 10-12, as well as a public charter school, the Academy for Math, Engineering, and Science(AMES) which utilizes unused school space.

Granite High School (Utah)

Granite High School was a public high school located at 3305 South 500 East in South Salt Lake, Utah. Granite opened in 1906. The first LDS seminary opened across the street from the school in 1912. In 2005-2006, the enrollment was 1250, but was reduced as the school transformed into an "academy" format. The academies within the school include the Young Parent program for teenage parents with children and the ESL program for new immigrants and refugees.

Charles Zitting

Charles Frederick Zitting (March 30, 1884–July 14, 1954) was a Mormon fundamentalist leader of the community in Short Creek, Arizona. Zitting began his rise in the leadership of the Mormon fundamentalist Short Creek Community when he was arrested on April 1, 1931 on charges of polygamy and bailed out by Lorin C. Woolley, J. The Jordan and Salt Lake City Canal is an historic waterway in Salt Lake County, Utah. It was first envisioned in 1849 and construction began in 1855. Initially conceived as a way to transport granite blocks from a quarry in Little Cottonwood Canyon to the construction site of the future Salt Lake Temple (a railroad spur from the canyon to the temple grounds was completed before this could become a reality), the canal evolved into a typical irrigation waterway.
