Salt Lake County is a county located in the U.S. state of Utah. It had a population of 1,029,655 at the 2010 census. Its county seat and largest city is Salt Lake City, the state capital. It occupies the Salt Lake Valley, as well as parts of the surrounding mountains, the Oquirrh Mountains to the west and the Wasatch Range to the east. In addition, the Great Salt Lake is partially within the northwestern section of the county.

Taylorsville, Utah

Taylorsville is a city in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States. It is part of the Salt Lake City, Utah Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 58,657 at the 2010 census. Taylorsville was incorporated from the Taylorsville-Bennion CDP and portions of the Kearns CDP on April 24, 1996. The city is located adjacent to interstate 215 and Bangerter Highway. It is centrally located in the middle of the Salt Lake Valley.

Granite High School (Utah)

Granite High School was a public high school located at 3305 South 500 East in South Salt Lake, Utah. Granite opened in 1906. The first LDS seminary opened across the street from the school in 1912. In 2005-2006, the enrollment was 1250, but was reduced as the school transformed into an "academy" format. The academies within the school include the Young Parent program for teenage parents with children and the ESL program for new immigrants and refugees.

Belle S. Spafford

Marion Isabelle Sims Smith Spafford (October 8, 1895 – February 2, 1982) was the ninth general president of the Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from April 6, 1945 until October 3, 1974. She served longer in this capacity than any other woman in the history of the Relief Society. Spafford was also the second counselor to president Amy B. Lyman from 1942 to 1945. The Jordan and Salt Lake City Canal is an historic waterway in Salt Lake County, Utah. It was first envisioned in 1849 and construction began in 1855. Initially conceived as a way to transport granite blocks from a quarry in Little Cottonwood Canyon to the construction site of the future Salt Lake Temple (a railroad spur from the canyon to the temple grounds was completed before this could become a reality), the canal evolved into a typical irrigation waterway.
