Arroyo City, Texas
Arroyo City is an unincorporated area in northeast Cameron County, Texas. It is located along Farm to Market Road 2925, 1 mile east of Farm to Market Road 1847 and 10 miles northeast of Rio Hondo. Mexican herders settled the area in the 1860s and named the area after its location on the Arroyo Colorado. A post office opened in 1887. The same post office closed in 1907. In 1910 the community had about 10 people and two stores. Scattered houses remained in the area in the 1930s.
