Charlestown is a town in Washington County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 7,827 at the 2010 census.
Narragansett people
The Narragansett tribe are an Algonquian Native American tribe from Rhode Island. In 1983 descendants of tribal members identified in an 1880 treaty gained federal recognition as the Narragansett Indian Tribe of Rhode Island and re-established sovereignty. In 2009, the United States Supreme Court ruled against their request that the Department of Interior take land into trust which they had acquired in 1991.
Frosty Drew Observatory
Frosty Drew Observatory is an educational astronomical observatory owned and operated by the Frosty Drew Memorial Fund. It is located in the Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge in Charlestown, Rhode Island midway along the coast line between Westerly and Point Judith. It is named after Edwin "Frosty" Drew. The main instrument is a Meade LX200 16" Schmidt Cassegrain telescope which was installed in July, 1999.

Ninigret is a coastal lagoon in Charlestown, Rhode Island in the United States, located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:41.3792677|-71.6453401|region:US-RI_type:waterbody_source:gnis|||||| | |name= }}. It is the largest of the nine lagoons, or "salt ponds", in southern Rhode Island. It is utilized for recreational actives, as well as oyster and quahog harvesting. Found along its shores are "extensive" archaeological remains.

WKFD has been used as a callsign twice in Rhode Island for 2 stations on the same frequency. The first was a station licensed to the village of Wickford. The second was a construction permit which never made it past that stage & was deleted on November 6, 2009.
