Mount Hope Bridge

The Mount Hope Bridge is a two-lane suspension bridge spanning the Mount Hope Bay in eastern Rhode Island, at one of the narrowest gaps in Narragansett Bay. The bridge connects the Rhode Island towns of Portsmouth and Bristol, and is part of Route 114. Its towers are 285 feet (87 m) tall, the length of the main span is 1,200 feet (366 m) and it offers 135 feet (41 m) of clearance over high water. The total length of the bridge is 6,130 feet (1,868 m).

Stone Bridge (Rhode Island)

The Stone Bridge was a bridge built in 1907 in Rhode Island that carried RI 138 over the Sakonnet River between Portsmouth and Tiverton. It was severely damaged by Hurricane Carol in 1954, and replaced in 1956 by the Sakonnet River Bridge, which was under construction at the time of the hurricane, located 0.8mi (1.3 km) to the north. The span was closed to marine traffic after the hurricane. After inspection, it was decided to close the bridge to bus and truck traffic on January 13, 1955.

Sakonnet River Bridge

The Sakonnet River Bridge is a four-lane bridge spanning the Sakonnet River in eastern Rhode Island. The bridge carries RI 24 and RI 138 between the communities of Portsmouth and Tiverton, Rhode Island. The truss bridge was built in 1956 but closed and replaced in September 2012 with a box girder bridge. The replacement of the Sakonnet Bridge ended a several years long ban of heavy commercial vehicles weighing over 18 tons. The truss bridge is scheduled for demolition in 2012-2013.

Mount Hope (Rhode Island)

Mount Hope (originally Montaup in Pokanoket language) is a small hill in Bristol, Rhode Island overlooking the part of Narragansett Bay known as Mount Hope Bay. The elevation of the summit is 209 feet, and drops sharply to the bay on its eastern side. Mount Hope was the site of a Wampanoag (Pokanoket) village. Sakonnet River rail bridge

The Sakonnet River rail bridge was a swing bridge built in 1899 by the Pennsylvania Steel Co. It was closed in 1980 after it was damaged by an overweight train loaded with military equipment. The swing bridge was left in the open position to allow boat traffic to pass but a barge ran into it in 1988. The bridge swing structure was removed in late 2006 and the supporting piers were demolished by explosion on February 9, 2007.

Fort Barton Site

The Fort Barton Site is an historic American Revolution fort in Tiverton, Rhode Island. The fort was used as a launching position for American forces during the Battle of Rhode Island. The site was named after Lt. Col. William Barton who successfully captured the British General Prescott during a midnight raid on the British headquarters at Prescott Farm on Rhode Island. Fort Barton was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
