Shamokin (village)

Shamokin was a multi-ethnic Native American trading village on the Susquehanna River, located near the site of the modern Sunbury, Pennsylvania. Early in the eighteenth century, the village consisted of Iroquois migrants from the north, as well as Shawnee and Lenape settlers moving away from the expanding white settlement of Pennsylvania.

Adam T. Bower Memorial Dam

The Adam T. Bower Memorial Dam (formerly known as the Sunbury Fabridam) is the world's longest inflatable dam. The dam is located just below the confluence of the Western and Main Branches of the Susquehanna, in Upper Augusta Township, between the town of Shamokin Dam and the city of Sunbury, Pennsylvania. The dam is 2,100 feet (640 m) long. When it is raised in the summer time, it creates the 3,000 acre (12 km²) Lake Augusta, which is used for recreation.

The Selinsgrove Bridge is a railroad bridge that carries Norfolk Southern lines across the Susquehanna River between Lower Augusta Township, Pennsylvania and Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. The bridge once carried Pennsylvania Railroad and later Penn Central Railroad lines across the river. The bridge crosses over Cherry and Fishers Islands.
