Exeter is a borough in the Greater Pittston area of Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States, about 10 miles west of Scranton. The borough is in the middle of a fertile agricultural area, and some lumber and coal-mining was carried out early on. In 1900, the population consisted of 1,948 persons; in 1910, 3,537 persons; and in 1940, 5,802 persons. The population was 5,652 at the 2010 census.

The city gained prominence in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as an active anthracite coal mining city, drawing a large portion of its labor force from European immigrants. The population was 7,739 as of the 2010 census. At its peak in 1920, the population of Pittston was 18,497.

West Pittston is a borough in the Greater Pittston area of Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located on the Susquehanna River opposite Pittston. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 4,868. The town once produced mine screens, cut glass, crackers, and knit and silk goods. West Pittston rose to national attention on September 8, 2011, when catastrophic flooding of the Susquehanna River caused by the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee left much of the borough under water.

WITK is an AM radio station licensed by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to serve the community of Pittston, Pennsylvania. WITK broadcasts at 1550 kHz and covers much of northeastern Pennsylvania, including Scranton and Wilkes-Barre. The station airs various Christian religious programming. The Twin Shaft Disaster occurred in the Newton Coal Company's Twin Shaft Colliery in Pittston, Pennsylvania on June 28, 1896, when a massive cave-in killed fifty-eight miners.
Campbell's Ledge
Campbell's Ledge is a geographical feature north of Harding, PA and also near Pittston, Pennsylvania. It is about 1,280 ft (390 Meters) above sea level. It is named after William Campbell, who was being chased by Native American Indians. Instead of being burned at the stake by the Indians, Campbell jumped off the ledge before they could apprehend him. It also features a multipurpose antenna for emergency services.
