Naomi Mine explosion

The Naomi Mine Explosion at Fayette City, Pennsylvania happened on December 1, 1907. 34 miners were killed in the explosion. The mine was operated by the United Coal Company, who did not provide modern safety lamps to the miners. The explosion was felt to be due to the ignition of 'black damp' by open lamps. This explosion, along with the Darr Mine Disaster made December, 1907 the worst month in coal mining in Pennsylvania history.

The West Brownsville Junction Bridge carries the Norfolk Southern Railway across the Monongahela River from Brownsville Township to West Brownsville in the state of Pennsylvania. The main span is a 401-foot Pennsylvania (Petit) truss. The structure was originally designed by the Monongahela Railway as a low-level connector between its mainline and Waynesburg Branch.
