Wycombe, Pennsylvania
Wycombe is an unincorporated community mainly in Wrightstown Township but also in Buckingham Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. Founded in the 1890s when the Northeast Pennsylvania Railroad opened a line through the county, it was called "Lingohocken" (the traditional Indian name of the area) by local residents, but the post office was named "Wycombe" to prevent confusion with the post office in Wingohocken.
Rushland, Pennsylvania
Rushland, in the northwestern corner of Wrightstown Township, Pennsylvania, was originally named for Joseph Sackett who came here in 1730. Called Sackett's Ford from 1750 to about 1800. Joseph Sackett built a grist mill store, and blacksmith shop near the Mill Creek where it joined the Neshaminy Creek. Some authorities claim that the name of the hamlet, first Rush Valley and later Rushland was due to the availability of "scouring rushes" used by early settlers for cleaning pots and pans.
