The Hawthorne District in Portland, Oregon, is an area of Southeast Portland on SE Hawthorne Blvd. , particularly between 30th and 42nd Avenues. The area has numerous retail stores, including clothing shops, restaurants, bars, brewpubs and microbreweries. Laurelhurst Park
Laurelhurst Park is a city park in the neighborhood of Laurelhurst in Portland, Oregon. The 26.81-acre park was acquired in 1909 from the estate of former Portland mayor William S. Ladd. The City of Portland purchased the land in 1911, and the following year park superintendent Emanuel Mische designed the park in accordance with the Olmsted Plan.
Colonel Summers Park
Colonel Summers Park is a city park in the Southeast Portland, Oregon neighborhood of Buckman. The park was created in 1921 and was originally called Belmont Park for Belmont Street which runs east-west on its boundary. In 1938 it was renamed in honor of Colonel Owen Summers, who was an Oregon legislator, commanding officer of a volunteer regiment in the Spanish-American War, and who later introduced the bill that created the Oregon National Guard.

The Beverly Cleary School (BCS) is a public school in Portland, Oregon, United States. The school educates children in kindergarten through eighth-grade and is part of the Portland Public School District (PPS). Formed in 2007 as Hollyrood-Fernwood School, it was renamed for children's author and Fernwood alumnus Beverly Cleary in 2008. Eliza Barchus
Eliza Barchus (December 4, 1857 – December 31, 1959) was a prolific, prize-winning landscape painter who lived in Portland in the U.S. state of Oregon for most of her life. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Barchus moved to Portland in 1880. After taking art lessons from another landscape painter, Will S. Parrott, Barchus sold her first painting in 1885.
