Wayne County is a county located in the state of Ohio, United States, and is named for General "Mad" Anthony Wayne. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 114,520, which is an increase of 2.6% from 111,564 in 2000. Its county seat is Wooster. Wooster is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Wayne County. The municipality is located in northeastern Ohio approximately 50 mi SSW of Cleveland and 35 mi SW of Akron. Wooster is noted as the location of The College of Wooster. Wooster was established in 1808 by John Bever, William Henry, and Joseph Larwill, and named after David Wooster, a general in the American Revolutionary War. The population was 24,811 at the 2000 census and 26,119 at the 2010 Census.

The College of Wooster is a private liberal arts college primarily known for its Independent Study program. It has roughly 2,000 students and is located in Wooster, Wayne County, Ohio, United States (approximately 60 miles south of Cleveland). Founded in 1866 by the Presbyterian church as the University of Wooster, it was from its creation a co-educational institution. The school is a member of The Five Colleges of Ohio and the Great Lakes Colleges Association.
