Grover Cleveland Middle School (Zanesville, Ohio)
Grover Cleveland Middle School is a public middle school in Zanesville, Ohio. Completed in 1924 and named after President Grover Cleveland, it was the city's first junior high school. The school colors, blue and gold, were adopted during its first year of operation, and the first issue of the "Beacon," the school magazine was also published that year. The zoo received world-wide attention on October 19, 2011, when dozens of exotic animals were released from their enclosures. Bears, lions, tigers, and wolves were among those who escaped, and were hunted by local law enforcement out of fear for public safety. The animals were either killed, or captured and taken to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.
