Jackson County, North Carolina
Jackson County is a county located in the southwest of the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of 2010, the population was 40,271. Since 1913 its county seat has been Sylva, replacing Webster.
Cullowhee, North Carolina
Cullowhee is a census-designated place (CDP) in Jackson County, North Carolina, United States. Cullowhee is best known for being the home of Western Carolina University (WCU). The population was 9,428 as of the 2010 census. The area known as Cullowhee has Western Carolina University, part of the UNC System, and the village/town of Forest Hills within its area. The Jackson County Recreation Department and the Jackson County Airport are also located in the Cullowhee area.

Western Carolina University (WCU) is a coeducational public university located in Cullowhee, North Carolina, United States. The university is a constituent campus of the University of North Carolina system. The fifth oldest institution of the sixteen four-year universities in the UNC system, the university was founded to educate the people of the western North Carolina mountains.
Bob Waters Field at E. J. Whitmire Stadium
Bob Waters Field at E. J. Whitmire Stadium is a 13,742-seat football stadium in Cullowhee, North Carolina. It opened in 1974 and is home to the Western Carolina University Catamounts football team. The field itself is named Bob Waters Field. The football facility is located on the south end of the WCU campus and is bordered by Cullowhee Creek on the west side; Jordan-Phillips Field House and WCU Weight Room on its north end, and the Liston B. Ramsey Regional Activity Center on the south end.
Ramsey Center
The Liston B. Ramsey Regional Activity Center is a 7,826-seat multi-purpose arena in Cullowhee, in the U.S. state of North Carolina, and is home to the Western Carolina University Catamounts basketball and volleyball teams. It is also named "THE LAIR". It is a state owned facility (by the University) and offers the largest seating capacity inside the Charlotte–Atlanta–Knoxville triangle.
Hunter Library
Hunter Library is the university library at Western Carolina University and is located in Cullowhee, North Carolina. The library, which is a medium-sized facility, was built in 1953 on the former football field and was enlarged in 1967 and again in 1983. The building is named after Hiram Tyram Hunter who was President of the University from 1923 to 1947. Hunter Library contains about 700,000 volumes in print, 14,000 media items, and over 1 million items on microform.

Western Carolina University Pride of the Mountains Marching Band
The Pride of the Mountains is the marching band of Western Carolina University and the 2009 recipient of the Sudler Trophy. The band performs pre-game, half-time, and post-game shows at all Catamount Football home games and provides exhibition performances throughout the Carolinas.
