Winged Foot Golf Club
Winged Foot Golf Club is a 36-hole golf course located in Mamaroneck, New York. The course architect is A. W. Tillinghast, who also designed Baltusrol (Lower), Bethpage Black, Shackamaxon Country Club, San Francisco Golf Club, Cedar Crest Park, and nearby Quaker Ridge Golf Club, Scarboro Golf and Country Club in Toronto and Wykagyl Country Club. Winged Foot Golf Club was founded in 1921, by a consortium consisting mainly of members of The New York Athletic Club.

Geoff Ogilvy won his first career major in one of the wildest finishes in U.S. Open history. He made clutch pars on the final two holes, including a chip-in on 17.

The 1929 U.S. Open was the 33rd U.S. Open, held June 27–30 at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York, a suburb northeast of New York City. Bobby Jones won his third U.S. Open title in a 36-hole playoff, besting Al Espinosa by 23 strokes on the West Course. Jones opened with a 69 in the first round to grab the lead, then followed a with a 75. After a third round 71, he had a three-stroke lead over Gene Sarazen and was four clear of Espinosa after 54 holes.
1997 PGA Championship
The 1997 PGA Championship was the 79th PGA Championship, held from August 14–17 at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York, a suburb northeast of New York City. Davis Love III won his only major championship, five strokes ahead of runner-up Justin Leonard, winner of the 1997 Open Championship. This was the first PGA Championship at the West Course and the fifth major; it previously hosted four U.S. Opens.
