Shinnecock Hills, New York
Shinnecock Hills is a hamlet in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 2,188 at the 2010 census. It is the home of a leading golf club, Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. Ownership of the area has been the subject of a 2005 lawsuit filed by the Shinnecock Indian Nation. Shinnecock Hills is in the Town of Southampton.

2004 U.S. Open (golf)
The 2004 United States Open Championship was the 104th U.S. Open, played from June 17 to June 20 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Shinnecock Hills, New York. The U.S. Open returned to Shinnecock Hills for the first time since 1995. Retief Goosen won his second U.S. Open; his first came in 2001 in a playoff at Southern Hills. His birdie on the 16th hole, combined with Phil Mickelson’s double bogey on 17th, gave Goosen a two shot win.
National Golf Links of America
National Golf Links of America is a prestigious links-style golf course in Southampton, New York, located on Long Island between Shinnecock Hills Golf Club and Peconic Bay. Though the course is noted for hosting the initial Walker Cup in 1922, which the United States won 8 and 4, it has never hosted a major men's championship. The Walker Cup will again be held at National in 2013. The private club has been called "America's snootiest golf course" due to its exclusive nature.
1995 U.S. Open (golf)
The 1995 U.S. Open was the 95th U.S. Open, held June 15–18 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York. In the 100th anniversary of the U.S. Open, Corey Pavin won his only major championship, two strokes ahead of runner-up Greg Norman. Norman began the tournament with rounds of 68-67 before falling back to 74 in the third round, while Tom Lehman fired a third-round 67 to tie Norman for the 54-hole lead. Pavin was three back after rounds of 72-69-71.
1986 U.S. Open (golf)
The 1986 U.S. Open was the 86th U.S. Open. The golf tournament was held June 12–15, 1986, at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Shinnecock Hills, New York. Raymond Floyd became the oldest U.S. Open champion with a two-stroke victory over Chip Beck and Lanny Wadkins. Greg Norman led after 36 and 54-holes, and took an one-stroke lead over Lee Trevino and Hal Sutton into the final round.
Southampton Campus (LIRR station)
Southampton Campus was a rail station located along the Montauk Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. It was originally opened as a seasonal flag stop called Golf Grounds around April 1907 to serve sites such as the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club and National Golf Links of America. This station was closed in 1939. In order to serve the Long Island University's Southampton College (now owned by Stony Brook University) it reopened on May 24, 1976.
