Fort Salonga, New York
Fort Salonga is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Suffolk County, New York on the North Shore of Long Island. As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP population was 10,008. The name evolved from the Revolutionary War British Fort Salonga, or Fort Slongo, (named after one of the fort’s architects) once located near the border of the towns of Huntington and Smithtown, overlooking Long Island Sound.

Vernon Valley, New York was a hamlet located in Suffolk County, in the Township of Huntington. It is located at the southeast corner of the incorporated Village of Northport, and is in the Northport postal zone, and is within the census-designated place of East Northport. The name is more generally applied to the entire hollow (or valley) that runs south from this point for approximately 1.5 miles to East Northport. Camp Alvernia
Camp Alvernia is a non-profit recreational summer camp in Centerport, New York on the North Shore of Long Island. The camp is located on the east shore of Centerport Harbor, on the Little Neck peninsula. It was founded in 1888 by the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn, who still run the facility now, over 120 years later. Alvernia was the first, and is now the oldest Catholic camp in continuous operation in the United States.
Mill Dam Bridge
The Mill Dam Bridge carries Mill Dam Road across the tidal mudflat of Centerport Harbor on the North Shore of Long Island, in Centerport, Suffolk County, New York. It divides the navigable waters of the harbor from the Mill Pond formed by its tidegates. The original Mill Dam and tide mill were built in 1674 at a site south of the present location. The bridge at the current location was first constructed in 1774 by Sylvanus Townsend.

The Battle of Fort Slongo (also spelled Salonga) was fought on October 3, 1781 between American Continental Army forces, under the command of Benjamin Tallmadge, and the British defenders of Fort Salonga, middle in the American Revolutionary War. The fort was located near the border of present-day Huntington Township and Smithtown, New York, overlooking Long Island Sound. The only American wounded in the battle was Sgt.
