Saratoga County is a county located in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2010 census, the population was 219,607. It is part of the Albany-Schenectady-Troy Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county seat is Ballston Spa. The name is a corruption of an Indian word "sah-rah-ka" or "Sarach-togue," that means "the hill beside the river."

Saratoga Springs (Amtrak station)
The Saratoga Springs Amtrak station (SAR) is a train station owned by the Capital District Transportation Authority and operated by Amtrak in Saratoga Springs, New York. It is along the Canadian Pacific Railway. The station was built in 1956-1959 by the Delaware and Hudson Railway, as a replacement for an 1880-built structure at another location, which currently serves as a private residence. It was rehabilitated in 2004.
Lysander Button
Lysander Button (September 2, 1810 - July 29, 1898) was the inventor of many of the early improvements made on hand and steam fire engines. Many of those improvements made their way to the modern fire engines of today. Button was born in North Haven, Connecticut on September 2, 1810 but moved with his parents to Albany by 1825. After John Rogers relocated his machine shop from Albany to a spot on King’s Canal in Waterford, Saratoga County, New York, Button found a job there as a machinist.
