West Haverstraw is a village in the town of Haverstraw, Rockland County, New York, United States. It is located northwest of Haverstraw village, east of Thiells, south of the hamlet of Stony Point, and west of the Hudson River. The population was 10,165 at the 2010 census. The majority of the hamlet of Garnerville is contained in the village of West Haverstraw.

It is located north of Congers, southeast of West Haverstraw, east of Garnerville, northeast of New City, and west of the Hudson River at its widest point. The population was 11,910 at the 2010 census. The village of Haverstraw is home to Rockland Community College – Haverstraw Extension and is part of the North Rockland Central School District. As of 2009 the mayor is Michael Kohut.
High Tor State Park
High Tor State Park is a state park on the north edge of the Town of Clarkstown in Rockland County, New York. High Tor State Park is on South Mountain. According to the book "50 Hikes In The Lower Hudson Valley" by Stella Green and H. Neil Zimmerman, the mountain is labeled as 'South Mountain' on the Long Path trail map, an example of which is on page 110 of the book. South Mountain has two tors named High Tor and Little Tor. Its highest peak, High Tor, is 832 feet high.

Centenary is a hamlet in the Town of Clarkstown Rockland County, New York, United States located north of New City; east of High Tor State Park; south of Village of Haverstraw and west of the Hudson River. Centenary Church, now desanctified and converted to a residence, marks the historic center at South Mountain Road near the intersection of Old Route 304. Well-known residents have included Carlos Castaneda, who resided on High Tor Road in the 1970s.

Lake DeForest is a reservoir in Clarkstown, New York created in 1956 by impounding the Hackensack River that is part of the water supply for Rockland County, New York and Northern New Jersey, notably Bergen and Hudson counties. It was originally developed by the Hackensack Water Company which had been under the direction Robert W. de Forest from 1881 to 1926.
