New City is a hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Clarkstown, Rockland County, New York, United States, part of the New York Metropolitan Area. The hamlet is an affluent suburb of New York City and is located 18 miles north of the city at its closest point, Riverdale, The Bronx. Within Rockland County, New City is located north of Bardonia, northeast of Nanuet, east of New Hempstead, south of Garnerville, and west, straight across Lake Deforest, of Congers.

Haverstraw is a village in the town of Haverstraw in Rockland County, New York, United States. It is located north of Congers, southeast of West Haverstraw, east of Garnerville, northeast of New City, and west of the Hudson River at its widest point. The population was 11,910 at the 2010 census. The village of Haverstraw is home to Rockland Community College – Haverstraw Extension and is part of the North Rockland Central School District. High Tor State Park
High Tor State Park is a state park on the north edge of the Town of Clarkstown in Rockland County, New York. High Tor State Park is on South Mountain. According to the book "50 Hikes In The Lower Hudson Valley" by Stella Green and H. Neil Zimmerman, the mountain is labeled as 'South Mountain' on the Long Path trail map, an example of which is on page 110 of the book. South Mountain has two tors named High Tor and Little Tor. Its highest peak, High Tor, is 832 feet high.

Received name from Garner family which operated textile printing industry called Garner Printworks on Minisceongo Creek near Railroad Avenue beginning 1838.

Centenary is a hamlet in the Town of Clarkstown Rockland County, New York, United States located north of New City; east of High Tor State Park; south of Village of Haverstraw and west of the Hudson River. Centenary Church, now desanctified and converted to a residence, marks the historic center at South Mountain Road near the intersection of Old Route 304. It was originally developed by the Hackensack Water Company which had been under the direction Robert W. de Forest from 1881 to 1926.
