South Jamaica, Queens
South Jamaica is a poor and dangerous neighborhood of the New York City borough of Queens, located south of downtown Jamaica, the Long Island Rail Road tracks Jamaica Avenue and Liberty Avenue. The western border is the Van Wyck Expressway, and it continues in the east towards the neighboring community of St. Albans and to Merrick Boulevard. South Jamaica is largely African-American, with increasing numbers of Mexican and West Indian immigrants moving into the community in recent decades.
York College, City University of New York
York College of The City University of New York is one of eleven senior colleges in the City University of New York (CUNY) system. It is located in Jamaica, Queens in New York City. Founded in 1966, York was the first senior college founded under the newly formed CUNY system, which united several previously independent public colleges into a single public university system in 1961. The college is a member-school of Thurgood Marshall College Fund.
Jamaica Center – Parsons/Archer (New York City Subway)
Jamaica Center – Parsons/Archer is the northern terminal station on the IND & BMT Archer Avenue Lines of the New York City Subway, located at Parsons Boulevard and Archer Avenue in Jamaica, Queens. It is a major transfer point for buses from eastern Queens and opened on December 11, 1988. This is a two-level station with E trains serving the upper level (IND) at all times, J and Z trains serving the lower level (BMT), the latter of which operates during rush hours only.

Canal Street (LIRR station)
Canal Street was a station on the Long Island Rail Road's Main Line and Montauk Branch at Canal Street (now 168th Street) in Jamaica, Queens, New York City, United States. The station opened on June 24, 1890, when the local Atlantic Avenue rapid transit trains were extended from Woodhaven Junction through Jamaica to Rockaway Junction, their new terminal. The station was closed in 1899, soon after the "rapid transit" trains started running to the Brooklyn Bridge.

168th Street (BMT Jamaica Line)
168th Street was the terminal station on the demolished section of the BMT Jamaica Line. It had two tracks and one island platform. This station was built as part of the Dual Contracts. It opened December 12, 1916, seventeen years after the closing of Canal Street Station along the Atlantic Avenue Rapid Transit line, and closed on September 10, 1977. The next stop to the south was 160th Street. It was closed in anticipation of the Archer Avenue Subway, and due to political pressure in the area.

The Judge's Chop House
The Judge's Chop House was an eatery located on Twombly Place in Jamaica, New York. The restaurant was one of the few older establishments of its kind to survive Prohibition. The business was started by Judge Emile Schiellein (1854 - 1930). He entered the restaurant business when he was young and opened the Schiellein Hotel at Vermont Avenue and Atlantic Avenue (New York City), in Brooklyn, New York. While Schiellein operated the hotel he was appointed a police judge in Brooklyn.
