Hollis, Queens
Hollis is a middle class neighborhood within the southeastern section of the New York City borough of Queens. A predominantly African American community, the boundaries are considered to be the Far Rockaway Branch of the Long Island Rail Road to the west, Hillside Avenue to the north, Francis Lewis Boulevard to the east (although parts of Queens Village are addressed as Hollis on Jamaica water bills) and Murdock Avenue to the south. Hollis (LIRR station)
Hollis is a station on the Long Island Rail Road's Main Line at the intersection of 193rd Street and Woodhull Avenue in Hollis, Queens, New York City, United States. Only trains to/from the Hempstead Branch stop here. The station was originally built as East Jamaica in May 1885 and renamed Hollis in September of the same year. It was rebuilt as part of a grade elimination project in 1915. The station house was destroyed by arson on November 2, 1967 and a new one was built in the early 1990s.
Springfield Boulevard
Springfield Boulevard is a major north/south roadway that runs through the eastern section of Queens, New York. It goes from Northern Boulevard in Bayside, to 147th Ave in Springfield Gardens. Springfield Boulevard runs through Bayside, Oakland Gardens, Queens Village, Cambria Heights, Laurelton, Springfield Gardens and along the eastern border of St. Albans. The name "Springfield," derived from the Springfield Armory, is one of several firearms-oriented street names in the area.
Bellaire, Queens
Bellaire is a middle class neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens. Bellaire is in east central Queens between Hollis and Queens Village, and covers the area surrounding Jamaica Avenue and 211th Street. The area is actually a part of Queens Village, which has three zip codes: Bellaire (11429), Hollis Hills (11427), and Queens Village proper (11428); the latter area the only one to have a post office, which delivers to all three zip codes.
Holliswood, Queens
Holliswood, previously known as Terrace Heights, is a upper middle class neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens. Holliswood is in east central Queens bounded by the Grand Central Parkway to the south, Francis Lewis Boulevard to the east, Union Turnpike to the north and 188th Street to the west. The neighborhood is part of Queens Community Board 8.
Bellaire (LIRR station)
Bellaire was a station stop along the Hempstead Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. Originally, it was the site of a station known as Brushville in 1837 which opened along with the rest of the LIRR Main Line to Hicksville, New York. The station was razed sometime in 1871.
