Carmel Hamlet, New York
Carmel Hamlet (or Carmel) is the seat of Putnam County, New York, United States. It is a hamlet located in the town of Carmel. As of the 2010 census, the population was 6,817. The hamlet is the site of the historic County Court House, the David D. Bruen County Office Building, and other structures, and borders Lake Gleneida. Next to the lake stands a bronze statue commemorating Sybil Ludington's 1777 ride to warn of the British burning of nearby Danbury, Connecticut.

A part of the Croton Watershed, it was formed by impounding the West Branch and Middle Branch of the Croton River, tributaries of the Croton River, which flows into the Hudson River.
