Bushwick, Brooklyn
Bushwick is a neighborhood in the northern part of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The neighborhood, formerly Brooklyn's 18th Ward, is now part of Brooklyn Community Board 4. It is served by the NYPD's 83rd Precinct and is represented in the New York City Council as part of Districts 34 and 37. Bushwick is bound by Williamsburg to the west, East New York to the east, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Brownsville to the south, and Ridgewood, Queens to the north.
Bleecker Street
Bleecker Street is a street in New York City's Manhattan borough. It is perhaps most famous today as a Greenwich Village nightclub district. The street is a spine that connects a neighborhood today popular for music venues and comedy, but which was once a major center for American bohemia. Served by the L and M trains at all times, it is located at Myrtle Avenue and Wyckoff Avenue in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn and the Ridgewood neighborhood of Queens (since Wyckoff Avenue between Gates Avenue and Eldert Street forms the border between Brooklyn and Queens).
Gates Avenue (BMT Jamaica Line)
Gates Avenue is a skip-stop station on the elevated BMT Jamaica Line of the New York City Subway, located at the intersection of Gates Avenue and Broadway in Bushwick, Brooklyn. It is served by the Z train during rush hours in the peak direction and the J train at all other times. It is notable for being the oldest existing station in the entire New York City Subway system; It has been in continuous operation for over 127 years.
Central Avenue (BMT Myrtle Avenue Line)
Central Avenue is a station on the BMT Myrtle Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. Located at Myrtle Avenue and Cedar Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn, it is served by the M train at all times. This elevated station, opened on December 19, 1889, has two side platforms and two tracks with space for a center track, which was removed when the section of the Myrtle Avenue elevated west of Myrtle Avenue was closed and demolished in 1969 after a fire on the structure.
Knickerbocker Avenue (BMT Myrtle Avenue Line)
Knickerbocker Avenue is a station on the BMT Myrtle Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of Myrtle and Knickerbocker Avenues in Bushwick, Brooklyn, it is served by the M train at all times. This elevated station, opened on December 19, 1889, has two side platforms and two tracks with space for a third track. The center track was removed in 1969 when the BMT Myrtle Avenue Line west of the Myrtle Avenue station was demolished after a fire on the structure.

Admission to this school is by competitive examination, unlike many public Middle Schools in New York City. The school serves grades 5-8. Philippa Schuyler is noted for its academics and high scoring on standardized examinations. The school's namesake is the child prodigy and pianist Philippa Schuyler.
Academy for Environmental Leadership
The Academy for Environmental Leadership (AEL) is a small high school located in Bushwick, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York City. It was founded in September, 2006, and is located on the 4th floor of the Bushwick High School Campus. As of Fall 2008, the school will have 9th, 10th and 11th graders. The school is expected to grow to have a population of approximately 400 students, spread out through 4 grades.

St. Barbara's Church (Brooklyn, New York)
The Church of St. Barbara is a Roman Catholic parish church under the authority of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn, located in northern Brooklyn, New York City in the Bushwick-Ridgewood neighborhood. The parish was established as a national parish to serve the German Catholic community, which later became Italian and then Hispanic by the 1960s. The church was built 1910 to the designs of the architectural firm of Helme and Huberty.
