Battle of Long Island
The Battle of Long Island, also known as the Battle of Brooklyn or the Battle of Brooklyn Heights, fought on August 27, 1776, was the first major battle in the American Revolutionary War following the United States Declaration of Independence, the largest battle of the entire conflict, and the first battle in which an army of the United States engaged, having declared itself a nation only the month before.
Old Stone House (Brooklyn, New York)
The Old Stone House is a 1933 reconstruction—with some original materials—of the Vechte-Cortelyou House, which was destroyed in 1897. The house is located in JJ Byrne / Washington Park, Brooklyn, New York City, in the Park Slope neighborhood at Third Street between Fourth Avenue and Fifth Avenue along where Gowanus Creek used to run. Today, the southeastern branch of the Gowanus Canal ends 1300 feet (400 m) west of the house, near Third Avenue between Third and Sixth streets.
Park Slope, Brooklyn
Park Slope is a neighborhood in western Brooklyn, New York City's most populous borough. Park Slope is roughly bounded by Prospect Park West to the east, Fourth Avenue to the west, Flatbush Avenue to the north, and Prospect Expressway to the south, though other definitions are sometimes offered. Generally the section from Flatbush Ave. to Garfield Place (the "named streets") are considered the North Slope, 1st St. through 9th Street is considered the "Center Slope" and 10th St.

Gowanus, Brooklyn
Gowanus is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The neighborhood is part of Brooklyn Community Board 6. The Gowanus area has been an active center of industrial and shipping activity since the 1860s. It is zoned for light to mid-level manufacturing (M1, M2, and M3).
South Brooklyn
South Brooklyn is an historic term for a section of the New York City borough of Brooklyn, encompassing areas of Cobble Hill, Red Hook, Gowanus, Park Slope, and Boerum Hill. Thus it is roughly encompassed by Brooklyn Community Board 6, which in turn approximates the southern half of the 18th century Town of Brooklyn. The IND Culver Line subway line serves South Brooklyn and was originally named the South Brooklyn Line on some official subway maps.

It is served by the R train at all times except late nights, when the D and N assume local service along Fourth Avenue. This underground station, opened on September 13, 1915, has four tracks and two side platforms.
Seventh Avenue (IND Culver Line)
Seventh Avenue, occasionally referred to as Seventh Avenue – Park Slope, is an express station on the IND Culver Line of the New York City Subway, located at Seventh Avenue and Ninth Street in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn. It is served by the F and G trains at all times. This station has two island platforms and four tracks, but only the outer two are normally in revenue service.
Prospect Avenue (BMT Fourth Avenue Line)
Prospect Avenue is a local station on the BMT Fourth Avenue Line in Brooklyn of the New York City Subway. Located at Prospect Avenue and Fourth Avenue near the border of Sunset Park and Park Slope, it is served by the R train at all times except late nights, when the D and N assume local service along Fourth Avenue. This station has four tracks and two side platforms with a full curtain wall separating the local and express tracks.

Proteus Gowanus
Proteus Gowanus is an interdisciplinary gallery and reading room founded in 2005 in Gowanus, Brooklyn. The gallery, which curates year-long theme-based shows, takes its name from shape-shifting Greek sea god Proteus and the nearby Gowanus Canal. In 2006, The Village Voice praised Proteus Gowanus in its annual "Best of NYC" issue, calling the gallery "[the the] best proof that the Gowanus Arts District may not be entirely a real estate fiction."

The Hellenic Classical Charter School is a Brooklyn, New York City Ethnic-culture based charter school that focuses on the "“classical study of the Greek and Latin languages, as well as history, art and other cultural studies. ” The modern Greek language is part of the curriculum. Lone Star Cafe
The Lone Star Cafe was a cafe and club in New York City at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 13th Street, from 1976 to 1989. The Texas-themed cafe opened in February 1976 and became the premier country music venue in New York and booked big names and especially acts from Texas, like Asleep at the Wheel and Roy Orbison. Willie Nelson, Kinky Friedman, Roy Orbison, Delbert McClinton, Freddy Fender, Doug Sahm and Jerry Jeff Walker, were among Texas musicians who frequented the Lone Star Cafe.
