Fredonia is a village in Chautauqua County, New York, United States. The population was 11,230 as of the 2010 Census. The Village of Fredonia is in the Town of Pomfret south of Lake Erie. The village borders the City of Dunkirk and is the home of the State University of New York Fredonia (in the northwest part of the village).

The Fredonia Central School District owns two campuses, Wheelock and the Main Campus, but the entire student population is currently at the Main Campus due to declining enrollment. Laona is a hamlet in Chautauqua County, New York, United States, near the village of Fredonia. It is part of the town of Pomfret, New York and New York State Route 60 runs through it. Laona is at an elevation of 850 ft (259 m) above sea level. Laona has been an area of importance to Spiritualist groups since the mid-19th century. Spiritualism began there in the winter of 1844-45 and over the next several years, a number of mediums converged there.
WCVF-FM
WCVF-FM is a public low power FM radio station in Fredonia, New York. Licensed to the State University of New York at Fredonia, the station broadcasts on 88.9 MHz on the FM dial. "CVF" stands for "Campus and Community Voice of Fredonia," the station's slogan. WCVF-FM was founded in 1978 by Dan Berggren, a professor in the Department of Communications/Media. WCVF-FM is Chautauqua County's only public radio station, and is entirely student-run.

The 1891 Fredonia Opera House is located in the Village Hall in downtown Fredonia, New York at 9-11 Church St. Currently a year-round performing arts center, it offers a variety of live performances, presents a cinema series of first run Independent and foreign films, and serves as a rental venue for community meetings, debates, weddings and performances.
WDOE
WDOE is an AM radio station located in Dunkirk, New York. It is owned by Alan Bishop and George Kimble, who also own sister station WBKX in Fredonia, and operates on a frequency of 1410 kHz. On December 7, 2012, WDOE began simulcasting on an FM translator at 94.9 MHz. WDOE operates a mostly automated oldies/adult standards format, with a local newsman, Dave Rowley. Dan Palmer hosts the morning show from 6:00-9:00 AM, and Dave hosts "Viewpoint," a daily 15-minute public affairs program.
