University Park is a census-designated place (CDP) in Doña Ana County, New Mexico, United States. The population was 2,732 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Las Cruces Metropolitan Statistical Area. The CDP is approximately the area bounded by University Avenue, Interstate 10, and Interstate 25 and is thus very nearly coextensive with the Las Cruces campus of New Mexico State University.

First Battle of Mesilla

The First Battle of Mesilla, fought on July 25, 1861 at Mesilla in what is now New Mexico, was an engagement between Confederate and Union forces during the American Civil War. The battle resulted in a Confederate victory and led directly to the official establishing of a Confederate Arizona Territory, consisting of the southern portion of the New Mexico Territory. The victory paved the way for the Confederate New Mexico Campaign the following year.

Fort Fillmore

Fort Fillmore was a fortification established by Col Edwin Vose Sumner in September of 1851 near Mesilla in what is now New Mexico, primarily to protect settlers and traders traveling to California. Travelers in the Westward Migration were under constant threat from Indian attack, and a network of forts was created by the US Government to protect and encourage westward expansion.

Presley Askew Field is a baseball venue located on the campus of New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. It is home to the New Mexico State Aggies baseball team, a member of the Division I Western Athletic Conference. Basilica of San Albino

Basilica of San Albino, formerly known as San Albino Church of Mesilla, is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Las Cruces and located in Mesilla, New Mexico. It has the distinction of being established in Mexico, and is now located in the United States. The first church on the site was built in 1852; the current structure was built in 1906, and is one of the oldest churches in the region. Daily masses are held in both Spanish and English.
