As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 1,603, reflecting an increase of 162 (+11.2%) from the 1,441 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn declined by 35 (-2.4%) from the 1,476 counted in the 1990 Census. The 2010 population was the highest recorded in any decennial census.

The strafing of the Little Egg Harbor Intermediate School was an incident in Little Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, United States, in which a military aircraft on a training mission unintentionally fired dozens of cannon rounds while attempting to fire an aircraft mounted laser. The aircraft was within the training range, as was the target the laser was pointed at. The laser target was approximately 90 degrees off the side of the aircraft, but the bullets fire in front of the aircraft.

An accident occurred there in May 2008 involving a general aviation craft crash landing into the woods a few hundred feet way from the runway.
