Long Valley, New Jersey
Long Valley is a census-designated place and unincorporated community located within Washington Township, in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. Known as German Valley since its foundation during the colonial era, the community was renamed in response to anti-German sentiment during World War I. As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP's population was 1,879.

The Black River starts near that of the North Branch Raritan River, several miles west of Morristown, and flows through the Black River Wildlife Management Area, the Black River County Park, and Hacklebarney State Park. It flows through Chester, New Jersey and the town school is named after it.

The district includes five schools and a central office. As of the 2009-10 school year, the district's four schools had an enrollment of 2,763 students and 206 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.41:1.
Purnell School
The Purnell School is a private all-girls boarding high school located in Pottersville, within Bedminster Township, New Jersey, about an hour and one-half west of New York City, and two hours north of Philadelphia. Purnell School is a member of the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools. The school has been accredited since 1973 by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Secondary Schools.

Hacklebarney State Park is state park of the U.S. state of New Jersey, located between Long Valley and Chester in Morris County. The park is managed by the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry. Black River County Park
The Black River County Park is a public park in Morris County, New Jersey operated by the Morris County Park Commission. The park covers an area of 560 acres along the eastern shore of the Black River and is located between Long Valley and Chester. Its land represents a glacial valley carved by the Black River and some of its tributaries. The park is home to the Cooper Mill, the Elizabeth D. Kay Environmental Center, the Bamboo Brook Outdoor Education Center, and the Willowwood Arboretum.
