Monadnock Region
The Monadnock Region is a region in southwestern New Hampshire. It is named after Mount Monadnock, a 3,165 foot isolated mountain, which is the dominant geographic landmark in the region. Although it has no specific borders, the Monadnock Region is generally thought of comprising all of Cheshire County and the western portion of Hillsborough County. The largest municipality, and only city, in the region is Keene with 23,409 residents.
Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music
Founded in 1971 and situated on 100 acres of fields and woodlands in rural New Hampshire, the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music is a center of chamber music performance and teaching. It is stewarded today by the organization's Director, Leonard Matczynski, and ensemble-in-residence, the Apple Hill String Quartet.
Otter Brook (Ashuelot River)
Otter Brook is a 13.2 mile long river located in southwestern New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of The Branch of the Ashuelot River, itself a tributary of the Connecticut River, which flows to Long Island Sound. Otter Brook begins at the outlet of Chandler Meadow, in the town of Stoddard, New Hampshire. It flows southwest through the towns of Nelson, Sullivan, and Roxbury, eventually entering the city of Keene, where it joins Minnewawa Brook to form The Branch.
Granite Gorge Ski Area
Granite Gorge is a small downhill ski resort, located on Pinnacle Mountain 5 miles east of downtown Keene, New Hampshire. It has a 525-foot vertical drop, one chairlift, one rope tow, and one magic carpet. The 50-acre site includes 12 kilometers of cross-country ski trails.
