Dakota City is a city in Dakota County, Nebraska, United States. It is part of the Sioux City, IA–NE–SD Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,919 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Dakota County. Tyson Foods' largest beef production plant is located in Dakota City.

United Airlines Flight 232
United Airlines Flight 232 was a scheduled flight from Stapleton International Airport in Denver, Colorado, to O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, with continuing service to Philadelphia International Airport. On July 19, 1989, the DC-10 operating the route crash-landed in Sioux City, Iowa, after suffering catastrophic failure of its tail-mounted engine, which led to the loss of all flight controls. 111 people died in the accident while 185 survived.

KWSL (1470 AM, is an American radio station licensed to serve the community of Sioux City, Iowa. The station is owned by Clear Channel Communications and the broadcast license is held by AMFM Radio Licenses, LLC. It airs the 24/7 syndicated Comedy format. The station was most recently assigned the "KWSL" call sign by the Federal Communications Commission on October 2, 1995. These call letters were previously used for the Top 40 format through the 1980s.
Siouxland Veterans Memorial Bridge
The Siouxland Veterans Memorial Bridge is a through arch bridge which carries U.S. Route 77 across the Missouri River between Sioux City, Iowa and South Sioux City, Nebraska. The bridge replaced the Combination Bridge, so called because it carried both rail and highway traffic, built in 1896. The new bridge was dedicated in July 1981, and the old one demolished. However, in May 1982 a 32-inch crack was discovered in the downstream tie girder.
