KSAM (1240 AM, "SAM 1240") is a radio station licensed to serve Whitefish, Montana. The station is owned by Bee Broadcasting, Inc. It airs a Sports radio format. All Bee Broadcasting stations are based at 2431 Highway 2 East, Kalispell. The station was assigned these call letters by the Federal Communications Commission on November 16, 2005. The Whitefish River is a tributary of the Flathead River in the U.S. state of Montana. It is part of the Columbia River basin, as the Flathead River is a tributary of Clark Fork, which is tributary to the Pend Oreille River, which is tributary to the Columbia River.
Great Northern Brewing Company
Great Northern Brewing Company is a traditional “gravity flow” brewery located in the northernmost block of downtown Whitefish, Montana. The brewery opened in 1995 under the stewardship of Minott Wessinger, the great-great grandson of Henry Weinhard. It is approximately 15,000 square feet and has a maximum annual capacity of 8000 barrels. Black Star, a double-hopped golden lager, is the brewery’s flagship beer.
Lost Coon Lake
Lost Coon Lake, is a fishing lake south of Whitefish, Flathead County in the state of Montana, USA. Lost Coon Lake was originally known as "Nigger Lake". It was named in the late 1800s or early 1900s. The name allegedly came about from the fact that an African American woman named Mrs. Randals ran a rooming house for lumberjacks near the lake. As offensive as the name was, it was not even accurate apparently as many later claimed Mrs. Randals was of Spanish descent.
Whitefish Theatre Company
The Whitefish Theatre Company (WTC) is a non-profit, community-based performing arts company which performs in the 326-seat I.A. O'Shaughnessy Center located at 1 Central Avenue in Whitefish, Montana. The company, now in its 33rd year, presents plays, concerts, music, dance, and film—and in addition sponsors theatre classes, workshops, and summer camps for local schools in the region.
