Lexington, Missouri
Lexington is a city in Lafayette County, Missouri, United States. The population was 4,726 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Lafayette County. Located in western Missouri, Lexington lies about 40 miles east of Kansas City and is part of the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area. It is the home of the Battle of Lexington State Historic Site, and Wentworth Military Academy and College, the oldest military school west of the Mississippi River.
Second Battle of Lexington
The Second Battle of Lexington was a minor skirmish during the American Civil War, taking place on October 19, 1864, in Lexington, the county seat of Lafayette County, Missouri. It formed a part of Confederate Maj. Gen. Sterling Price's Missouri Expedition of that year, and led in turn to the Battle of Little Blue River two days later. Like the first Battle of Lexington, fought in September 1861, this engagement resulted in a Confederate victory.

The First Battle of Lexington also known as the Battle of the Hemp Bales, was an engagement of the American Civil War, occurring from September 13 to September 20, 1861, between the Union Army and the pro-Confederate Missouri State Guard, in Lexington, the county seat of Lafayette County, Missouri. The State Guard's victory in this battle bolstered the already-considerable Southern sentiment in the area, and briefly consolidated Confederate control of the Missouri Valley.
Wentworth Military Academy and College
Wentworth Military Academy and College is a private four-year college preparatory high school and military junior college. It is located in Lexington, Missouri, part of the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area. Wentworth is the oldest military academy west of the Mississippi River, and the campus is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is one of five military junior colleges in the United States.
Lexington Bridge (Lexington, Missouri)
The Lexington Bridge was a seven-span truss bridge on Route 13 over the Missouri River at Lexington, Missouri between Ray County, Missouri and Lafayette County, Missouri. It opened on October 31, 1924 and was replaced by the Ike Skelton Bridge on June 25, 2005. It was designed by the Kansas City Bridge Company. The main span was 408 feet and the total length was 3,072.4 feet. Its deck width was 20 feet and it had vertical clearance of 18.1 feet.
Ike Skelton Bridge
The Ike Skelton Bridge is a set of girder bridges on Route 13 over the Missouri River at Lexington, Missouri between Ray County and Lafayette County. It opened on June 25, 2005. It is named for Lexington native, Congressman Ike Skelton. Senate Bill 233 in Missouri also named the new Christopher S. Bond Bridge in Hermann, Missouri over the river as well as section of Interstate 44 in Phelps County for former Governor Mel Carnahan. The bridge is two miles east of the former Lexington Bridge.

The airport is located just south of Henrietta, Missouri and is home to the Missouri Valley River Skydivers (MRVS), who regularly jump on weekends.
