Ross Barnett Reservoir

The Ross Barnett Reservoir (colloquially known as "The Rez") is an impoundment of the Pearl River between Madison and Rankin Counties in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The 33,000-acre lake serves as the state's largest drinking water resource, and is managed by the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District. The lake features 105 miles of shoreline impounded on the south by a 3.5-mile man-made dam and spillway. The western shore is bounded by the historic Natchez Trace Parkway.

Simmons Arboretum is a 10-acre arboretum in Madison, Mississippi, USA. It is city-owned, a work in progress, and open to the public. The Pearl High School shooting was a school shooting that took place on October 1, 1997 at Pearl High School in Pearl, Mississippi. The gunman, 16-year-old Luke Woodham (born February 5, 1981), killed two students and injured seven others at his high school. Before the shooting at Pearl High School began, Woodham stabbed and bludgeoned his mother to death in his home.

Central Mississippi Correctional Facility

The Central Mississippi Correctional Facility (CMCF) is a Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) prison for men and women located in unincorporated Rankin County, Mississippi, near Pearl. The 171-acre prison is the only state prison to hold female prisoners in Mississippi, in addition to minimum and medium security male offenders.
